Few things are more satisfying than retreating to a luxury suite after an exhilarating day of skiing. Our Forbes Travel Guide editors found four ski-in/ski-out hotels where the slopeside suites are packed with pampering amenities.
The grand, Craftsman-style resort fits right in with its rustic-chic surroundings in the tony Deer Valley enclave of Park City, Utah. Residential-style suites at the Four-Star property are warm with traditional furniture, fireplaces, furnished balconies (with show-stopping mountain views) and marble bathrooms. Luxe amenities include Turkish cotton robes, Antica Farmacista bath products and signature Montage bed linens.
The Vermont hotel is at the base of Stowe Mountain Resort but this is no staid mountain lodge. Expect fresh communal spaces and guest rooms to have contemporary furnishings, modern folk art and rich colors (reds, oranges and greens). Each of the one- to three-bedroom Alpine Suites has 180-degree views of Mount Mansfield, a private outdoor terrace, a gourmet kitchen and a marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub.
While the rest of the Four-Star hotel looks like a classic, chateau-style mountain lodge, the lobby-level Mount Lincoln Suite has a tasteful modern touch — a large wrap-around red sofa is the focal point of the room, which has high ceilings, rich fabrics and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows (dressed in black-and-white patterned drapes) that overlook Beaver Creek Village. The top-floor James Chadwick Suite is a bit more traditional with a large stone fireplace and warm, earthy tones and textures.
Of all the rooms at this Five-Star resort, we’re partial to the 1,100-square-foot Mountain-View One-Bedroom Suites. The wood, stone and leather décor feels homey but not kitschy, the walk-out furnished balcony is a prime spot to sip warm drinks ordered from room service and views are of the majestic Grand Tetons.
