The Arc de Triomphe is the start and finish line for the Paris Marathon, which took place April 15. On the day before the big race, we shopped along Rue Saint-Honoré and stopped at Champs-Élysées to take this picture of the famous monument. We didn’t climb to the top this time; instead, we watched the traffic whiz around the circle and admired the landmark. We knew this image would be a reminder of the five hard months we put into training. The next day, after four-and-a-half hours of running, we were proud to once again reach the Arc de Triomphe — our own personal triumph.
