If you’re thinking about booking a trip to the Maldives, you might want to wait just a little longer. Luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy has announced it will open a resort on the small Asian island in 2013.
The hotel, which will join LVMH’s existing hotel portfolio that includes ultra-posh White 1921 in St. Tropez and Cheval Blanc Courchevel in the French Alps, is currently under construction on the uninhabited island of Randheli in Noonu Atoll and will feature 46 luxury villas.
The news also marks yet another example of the growing trend of fashion house-branded hotels, including the Armani hotels in Dubai and Milan, the 2015-slated Shanghai hotel from Bulgari Hotels & Resorts and the planned Missoni properties in Oman, Turkey, Mauritius and Brazil.
