Best known for its high society soirees, the Hamptons is also home to a thriving annual movie extravaganza. In fact, this year’s Hamptons International Film Festival (October 4-8), held on the sandy Long Island shores 100 miles outside of Manhattan, marks the event’s 20-year anniversary.
Screened throughout the East Hampton, Southhampton, Sag Harbor and Montauk areas, the HIFF includes many notable independent selections like Argo, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, Silver Linings Playbook with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper and documentaries such as In Your Dreams – Stevie Nicks and London: The Modern Babylon.
The five-day cinematic celebration has also upped the ante in its social media efforts, enlisting the help of PointBurst—a social media management platform—to increase audience engagement. The goal is to provide those who can’t make it to the Hamptons with in-the-moment updates, photos and news from the various events.
